Union Atlantic by author Adam Haslett, whose debut book from 2002 was the very well received book of short stories You Are Not Stranger Here, comes with some very impressive advance praise from Malcolm Gladwell and Gary Shteyngart while US Esquire calls it The first great novel of the new century, all of which could be difficult to live up to.
However, at 75 pages in, we have already had a civilian plane blown out of the sky by a US warship, the beginnings of financial meltdown a pair of talking dogs and, a little further on, in chapter 6, the best piece of writing I've so far read this year.
That'll do for me.
As far as I am aware it doesn't yet have a UK publication.
